What is involved in T-scan?
At Pearl Dental Studio, a T-scan device is used as an objective tool to assess a patient's occlusion, commonly referred to as "the bite." Unlike traditional bite paper, which only determines tooth contact, the T-scan measures both the force and timing of the bite, providing crucial information for evaluating occlusion. This device is essential for assessing the strength of the jaw's function.
Patients who undergo orthodontic treatment or multiple dental procedures that alter jaw positioning may develop TMJ (Temporomandibular Joint) Syndrome. While bite paper is often used to check the bite, it does not evaluate the muscle relationship between the upper and lower jaws. For patients experiencing jaw issues or at high risk of developing such issues after dental procedures, a T-scan assessment may be necessary before, during, or after the treatments. At Pearl Dental Studio, the T-scan is utilized for all patients following orthodontic services to ensure accurate and precise jaw positioning.
