Understanding the Basics
What is a Smile Makeover?

Do I Need a Smile Makeover?

What to Expect
The Smile Makeover Process
Your treatment will always begin with a comprehensive cosmetic consultation with Dr. Cash. Along with discussion your unique needs, she will take x-rays and images of your mouth and examine your teeth to determine which treatments may be right for you.
In most cases, your smile makeover will begin with orthodontic treatment like Invisalign, or a restorative treatment like the placement of dental crowns or implants. Once your teeth have been moved into the proper position and restored, we will begin using cosmetic treatments to ensure that your smile looks its best. Depending on the treatments you need, your smile makeover can take anywhere from just a few weeks to a year or more. The result will always be a smile that looks great, functions perfectly, and will remain strong and healthy for years to come.
HOW LONG WILL IT TAKE
To Do a complete smile makeover?
The time it takes to do a complete smile makeover can vary quite a bit, based on the procedures that are recommended for you. Some smile makeovers that mostly involve cosmetic dentistry can be done very quickly, while other more complex cases will require a longer treatment time.
For example, let’s say Dr. Cash recommends that you whiten your teeth and then have dental bonding to correct a few gaps in your smile and a chip in your tooth. The teeth whitening process usually takes just one appointment, and dental bonding can also be done in a single appointment, so you may be able to complete your treatment in just 2 appointments over 1-2 weeks.
In contrast, if she recommends that you correct the position of your teeth using Invisalign and then get veneers, you may be looking at a treatment time of over a year, since Invisalign usually takes 12 months and it usually takes 2-3 weeks to fit, build, and place a set of veneers.

How does the dentist decide
which procedures are needed for my smile makeover
Dr. Lindsay Cash will take a variety of different factors into account when developing your smile makeover, such as:
- Orthodontic problems – If your teeth are crooked or crowded, or your bite is unhealthy due to an issue like an overbite, underbite, open bite, or crossbite, Dr. Cash may decide that some kind of orthodontic treatment like Invisalign may be right for you.
- Overall dental health – Before cosmetic treatment can begin, Dr. Cash will need to address any potential oral health issues, such as gum disease and cavities, and ensure that your mouth is healthy. Depending on your case, this may involve procedures like dental fillings, crowns, or even root canal therapy.
- Cosmetic dental issues – Cosmetic dental issues like misshapen teeth, gaps in your smile, and stained teeth are usually treated after restorative care and orthodontic treatment are administered. This usually involves teeth whitening, dental bonding, shaping & contouring, and the placement of veneers.
- Your preferences & your budget – While developing your treatment plan, Dr. Cash will listen to your preferences and take your budget into account. For example, if you don’t like the idea of permanently trimming your teeth for veneers, she may recommend dental bonding instead, since this treatment is less invasive.
Once Dr. Cash has examined your mouth and you’ve discussed all of your oral health issues, your budget, and your preferences, she will present you with your options for treatment. Then, Dr. Cash will develop a unique, customized plan based on your feedback.
