The Clear Choice

The Benefits of Invisalign

  • Invisalign uses plastic aligners that are nearly invisible when worn.
  • Aligners are clear, thin, and do not affect speech, which means that nobody has to know that you’re in the middle of orthodontic treatment.
  • You can remove Invisalign and enjoy orthodontic treatment with no dietary restrictions.
  • Without the hindrance of wires and rubber bands, it is easier to brush and floss your teeth.
  • Invisalign is more comfortable than braces because there are no sharp pieces of metal to poke your mouth, and your aligners will exert a more gentle, even pressure to move your teeth.

Timeline and What to Expect

The Invisalign Process

The Invisalign process starts with a comprehensive orthodontic consultation with Dr. Cash at Pearl Dental Studio. Dr. Cash will examine your mouth and take images, x-rays, and impressions of your teeth to prepare your treatment. Dr. Cash will work closely with the team at Invisalign to develop your treatment plan using dental software, then order your first several sets of aligners.

You’ll get your first several sets of aligners about a month after your first consultation, in most cases. Each set of aligners must be worn for 20-22 hours per day, and is usually worn for about 2 weeks. After 2 weeks, you’ll swap to a new set of aligners. Every 6 weeks, you will come in for a short consultation with Dr. Cash, she’ll check your treatment progress, and give you your next several sets of aligners. Most patients require about a year to straighten their teeth with Invisalign, but your treatment could be shorter or longer depending on the extent of your orthodontic issues.

Advanced Technology

For Better Invisalign Results

Dr. Lindsey Cash is your Simpsonville dentist and has invested in the latest technology to provide you with the best possible level of care during Invisalign treatment. Before your treatment begins, use an advanced iTero intraoral digital scanner to create an interactive, 3D image of your mouth and your teeth.

Using these digital impressions, Dr. Lindsey Cash can determine whether or not Invisalign is right for you, and begin the process of planning your treatment. Compared to other methods of taking impressions, such as using dental putty and trays, our iTero digital scanner is faster, more comfortable, and more accurate.

How Will Invisalign

Affect My Lifestyle?

While Invisalign is convenient, it will require some lifestyle changes. The biggest change is that you’ll need to wear your Invisalign aligners for at least 20-22 hours per day, according to the instructions given to you by Dr. Cash. Unless you’re eating and drinking or brushing your teeth, you’ll need to wear your aligners.

You’ll need to pay more attention to your oral health, too. It’s best to brush once in the morning after breakfast, and to brush once after each meal of the day. You will also need to clean your aligners frequently. This is because Invisalign can lead to a higher risk of tooth decay if you don’t maintain good oral hygiene. Without proper at-home dental care, your aligners may cause food particles, acid, and bacteria to be trapped against your teeth, resulting in cavities.

If you’re a big snacker or drink a lot of beverages (except tap water) throughout the day, Invisalign will take some adjustment. You can’t eat while wearing your aligners, so snacking is out. It’s best to eat larger meals throughout the day. You also can’t drink anything besides water while wearing your aligners.

Overall, though, Invisalign is relatively convenient, and you’ll get used to these lifestyle changes pretty quickly. For more information, contact your Simpsonville dentist for an Invisalign appointment with Dr. Cash.

How Do I Speed Up

The Invisalign Process?

The best thing you can do is follow Dr. Cash’s instructions to the letter! Switch your aligners whenever you’re supposed to, and wear them for at least 20-22 hours per day. The more consistent you are about aligner use, the faster your treatment will be.

You may also want to look into getting some Invisalign “chewies.” These small pieces of rubber can be chewed when you switch to a new set of aligners to “seat” the aligners properly and eliminate gaps between your aligners and your teeth, which can improve the effectiveness of your treatment.

Beyond that, just make sure you see Dr. Cash regularly for your appointments. You’ll usually need to come into Pearl Dental Studio every 4-6 weeks, depending on how often you get new sets of aligners. Between your appointments, you should also monitor how your teeth and aligners feel. If you are noticing any abnormalities or something doesn’t feel right, make sure to call our office in Simpsonville and inform us right away so that Dr. Cash can determine if any follow-up is needed

Candidates for Invisalign

Is Invisalign Right for Me?

Invisalign is usually recommended for patients who have minor-to-moderate orthodontic issues. Orthodontic problems like gapped, uneven, crowded or crooked teeth can all be treated with Invisalign. Minor bite position issues may also be treatable with Invisalign.

However, orthodontic issues like major jaw or bite malposition or extremely crooked teeth may not be treatable with Invisalign. Traditional metal braces are much more effective for correcting these kinds of complex orthodontic issues. To find out if you’re a good candidate for Invisalign, schedule a consultation at Pearl Dental Studio today. Our office is located at 117 Batesville Road Suite 202, Simpsonville, SC 29681.

Additional Frequently Asked Questions

How Long Do I Need to Wear My Invisalign Trays Each Day?

As long as possible! To make sure that your teeth move properly, you should be wearing your Invisalign trays for at least 22 hours per day. If you’re not eating or drinking or brushing and flossing, your trays should be in. The more consistent you are about wearing your trays, the better your results will be.

Can I Eat or Drink With My Trays In?

No. You shouldn’t eat or drink anything with your trays in, with the exception of cool, clear bottled or tap water. Eating can damage and warp your trays, and hot foods and drinks may also distort your trays. In addition, sugar and other food particles could get trapped under your trays and get stuck against your teeth. This could lead to tooth decay.

Eating and drinking while wearing your trays can also stain the Invisalign trays. This may not affect your treatment, but it will make it more obvious that you’re wearing Invisalign, since the trays won’t be clear and invisible anymore.

How Long Will My Treatment Take?

arrow icon

For most patients, treatment will take between 6 months and a year. This all depends on how serious your orthodontic issues are, and how much tooth movement will be required to resolve your case.

However, this can vary. If you have more severe orthodontic problems, you may need to get treatment for 12 months or longer. Dr. Cash will give you more information about your expected treatment time after your consultation at Pearl Dental Studio, so contact us for an appointment now.

How Much Does Invisalign Cost?

The total cost of Invisalign treatment will vary for each patient. However, rest assured that we provide affordable rates at Pearl Dental Studio, and we offer payment plans that allow you to get Invisalign treatment for as little as $100 per month.

What Is the Process Like?

Beyond wearing your trays for 22 hours per day, there are a few things that may need to be done as part of your Invisalign treatment. One of these is the placement of Invisalign “buttons,” which are tooth-colored pieces of dental resin that are applied to your teeth.

This will usually be done before you get your first trays. These tooth-colored buttons let your trays get a tighter hold on your teeth and move them more effectively. Once they’re no longer needed, they can simply be gently sanded away from your teeth.

You may also need “interproximal reduction.” In this procedure, Dr. Lindsay Cash will use a special polishing tool to create a larger gap between the teeth so that they can move properly.
