- Brushing and flossing DAILY is super important to keep your restorations clean! Please brush for 2 minutes in the morning, brush for 2 minutes at night, and floss with string floss every night before bed (our favorite is Cocofloss!). Regular flossing is CRUCIAL to extending the life of your restorations and helping to keep cavities away from forming around them.
- Consider adding a Waterpik to your nightly routine. While a waterpik DOES NOT replace flossing, it does flush out a ton of debris that even floss may be unable to adequately remove! We have waterpiks here should you wish to add one to your routine!
- You should ALWAYS be using a SOFT BRISTLED TOOTHBRUSH!!! Your toothbrush needs to be replaced every 3 months, or as soon as the bristles begin to splay. If your bristles are splaying prior to 90 days, you are brushing with too much pressure! We don't care what you choose to brush with, but our personal favorite is the Sonicare electric brush (we have them here as well as the replacement heads if you need anything!)
- Be sure you are choosing a LOW ABRASIVE toothpaste when you brush your teeth! We love Sensodyne! We strongly recommend using a toothpaste that contains fluoride (or nanohydroxyapatite if you choose to be fluoride free)! (We have both options available!)
- We strongly recommend having Fluoride or our Fluoride-free Cervitec varnish applied at the completion of your appointments with your hygienist to help keep the margins of your restorations where they meet your teeth as healthy and strong as possible.
- If you have been instructed to wear a nightguard, WEAR IT EVERY NIGHT! Failure to wear any appliance we have given you (including your Quicksplint!) can result in chipping or breakage of your restorations.
- Come in regularly for your scheduled cleanings! Staying up to schedule for your cleanings, x-rays, and exams with our hygienists allows us to thoroughly check your restorations and ensure everything is looking great!
- Be mindful of what you do with your teeth and DO NOT USE THEM AS TOOLS! Your teeth are perfect for smiling and chewing, but not for nail biting, cutting fishing line, opening packages, opening bottles, ect.....
