Dental Bonding In Greenville

Explaining The Basics
What Is Dental Bonding?
Dental bonding is a cosmetic procedure that utilizes a specialized dental resin to restore and reshape your smile.
This tooth-colored resin is soft and malleable, allowing it to be applied directly to your teeth to address various cosmetic concerns. Once applied, it is hardened with a UV light, then carefully trimmed and sculpted to enhance the appearance of your smile and correct minor imperfections.
The entire process is quick and non-invasive, typically requiring no numbing or sedation. Each tooth can be treated in just 30 to 60 minutes, enabling you to have multiple teeth addressed in a single visit. Additionally, dental bonding is an affordable and cost-effective option for those looking to enhance their smiles on a budget.
Common Problems Dental Bonding Solves
Why Would I Need Dental Bonding?
Dental bonding is an effective solution for addressing a wide range of cosmetic issues with your smile. It is frequently used to restore severely stained teeth and fill gaps, creating a more even and attractive appearance. Additionally, dental bonding can correct uneven or misshapen teeth by adding material to enhance their shape, and it can even repair minor chips and damage in certain cases.
If you feel self-conscious about your smile due to these cosmetic concerns, dental bonding may be the ideal choice for you. With the help of Dr. Lindsay Cash, you can overcome your dental issues and enjoy smiling, eating, laughing, and speaking without worry, all while boosting your self-confidence.
Timeline & What To Expect
The Dental Bonding Process
As previously mentioned, bonding each tooth typically takes only 30 to 60 minutes and involves no drilling or numbing of your mouth. Dr. Cash will start by thoroughly cleaning the teeth to be bonded. Next, she will apply a mild acid to the surface of each tooth, which slightly roughens it to ensure proper adhesion of the bonding resin.
Then, Dr. Cash will select a dental resin that perfectly matches the color of your teeth and apply it directly. Using specialized tools, she will shape and mold the resin until it achieves the desired form. Once the shape is correct, she will harden the resin with a UV light.
Afterward, Dr. Cash will use a dental drill to trim and refine the resin, finalizing the shape of your new tooth. The surface will then be buffed and polished to give it a natural finish. If you're having multiple teeth bonded, this process will be repeated for each one.

How long Does
This Treatment last?
Dental bonding can last anywhere from 3 to 10 years, depending on your oral hygiene practices and lifestyle choices. While it is a temporary procedure, the composite resin can wear down over time due to normal use. With proper care, you can expect your bonding to last at least 5 years.
To maximize the longevity of your bonding treatment, it’s important to minimize exposure to wear and staining. Avoid smoking, using tobacco products, and consuming staining foods and drinks such as red wine, coffee, or tea. If you indulge in these, consider using a straw to reduce contact with your teeth.
Be cautious about habits that could damage your bonding, such as chewing your nails, using your teeth to open packages, or eating hard or sticky foods. It’s best to chew with your molars rather than your front teeth. Teeth grinding can also pose a risk for chipping or damaging your bonded teeth.
If you grind or clench your teeth, wearing a mouthguard is advisable. Additionally, practice good oral hygiene by brushing and flossing regularly, and attending routine dental cleanings. Use a soft-bristle toothbrush and be gentle when brushing to protect your bonding.
will other be able to tell
i got my teeth Bonded?
No one will be able to tell that you’ve had dental bonding done. The procedure is highly precise and tailored to match the composite resin to your natural teeth. We use a shade guide to ensure the resin perfectly blends with your existing tooth color.
We meticulously shape and mold the resin to replicate the natural contours of your teeth and to fill in imperfections such as chips or cracks. Bonding is often combined with enameloplasty, a technique that removes a small amount of natural tooth enamel to achieve optimal aesthetic results.
If you have teeth that are excessively long, sharp, or irregularly shaped, we may need to slightly file them down before applying the bonding. This process helps create a seamless, natural-looking smile that appears entirely authentic.
Will I need to do
touch-ups?
Since dental bonding is a temporary procedure, touch-ups will be necessary to maintain the appearance of your teeth. Over time, the material may wear down or become chipped or cracked.
To extend the lifespan of your bonding, it’s essential to practice good oral hygiene and avoid harmful habits. However, as time passes, you will likely need to return for touch-ups to repair any worn-down composite resin.
If you grind your teeth, consume a lot of hard foods, smoke, or neglect your oral hygiene, you may find that you need to replace your bonding sooner than anticipated. While bonding isn’t permanent, it is one of the most affordable and least invasive cosmetic treatments available, significantly enhancing your confidence without the need for anesthetics, needles, or hefty bills.
