What is involved in T-scan?

At Pearl Dental Studio, we utilize the T-scan device to objectively assess a patient’s occlusion, commonly known as "the bite." Unlike traditional bite paper, which only identifies tooth contact, the T-scan measures both the force and timing of the bite. This advanced tool is vital for evaluating the effectiveness of jaw function.
Patients undergoing orthodontic treatment or various dental procedures that modify jaw alignment may be susceptible to TMJ (Temporomandibular Joint) Syndrome. While bite paper is commonly used to check the bite, it doesn't assess the muscle relationships between the upper and lower jaws. For individuals with jaw issues or those at risk of developing them after dental treatments, a T-scan evaluation may be necessary before, during, or after their procedures. At Pearl Dental Studio, we ensure that all patients receive a T-scan assessment following orthodontic services to guarantee accurate jaw positioning.
