Invisalign
More Than Just a Beautiful Smile
While a straight, beautiful smile is certainly a desirable result of Invisalign treatment, the true benefits of orthodontic care extend far beyond aesthetics. Properly aligned teeth contribute significantly to your overall oral health and function, creating a foundation for long-term dental wellness. Teeth that are aligned with the correct occlusion (bite) not only look great but also reduce the likelihood of damage such as wear, cracks, or breaks. Additionally, straight teeth are easier to clean, making it less likely for plaque to accumulate, which in turn reduces the risk of cavities and gum disease.
But it’s not just about avoiding potential problems—it’s about improving your overall quality of life. Properly aligned teeth help with better chewing, less strain on your jaw joints, and enhanced speech, making your daily life more comfortable. Invisalign doesn’t just help you achieve a more confident smile—it’s about creating a healthier, more functional bite that will benefit your overall oral health for years to come.
The Benefits of Aligned Teeth:
- Better Oral Hygiene: Straight teeth are easier to brush and floss, reducing the risk of plaque buildup, cavities, and gum disease.
- Prevents Tooth Damage: Proper alignment reduces the likelihood of teeth grinding, chipping, and excessive wear from an improper bite.
- Improved Chewing Function: With the correct bite, you’ll experience more efficient chewing, which improves digestion and reduces strain on your jaw muscles.
- Reduced Jaw Pain: Properly aligned teeth and bite reduce strain on your jaw joints, decreasing the chances of developing jaw pain or temporomandibular joint (TMJ) disorders.
- Enhanced Speech: Misaligned teeth can affect speech, leading to difficulties in pronouncing certain words. Straightening your teeth can improve your clarity and confidence when speaking.
- Prevention of Future Issues: Aligning your teeth properly can help prevent issues like gum recession, bone loss, or tooth misplacement that may arise from an improper bite.
- Boosted Confidence and Comfort: While the functional benefits are significant, having straight teeth also enhances your appearance and overall comfort, boosting your confidence every time you smile.

The Clear Choice
The Benefits of Invisalign
- Invisalign uses plastic aligners that are nearly invisible when worn.
- Aligners are clear, thin, and do not affect speech, which means that no one has to know that you’re in the middle of orthodontic treatment.
- Enjoy orthodontic treatment with no dietary restrictions by simply removing your Invisalign aligners.
- Without the hindrance of wires and rubber bands, it is easier to brush and floss your teeth.
- Invisalign is more comfortable than braces because there are no sharp pieces of metal to poke your mouth, and your aligners will exert a more gentle, even pressure to move your teeth.

Timeline and What to Expect During
The Invisalign Process
The Invisalign process starts with a comprehensive orthodontic consultation with Dr. Lindsay Cash at Pearl Dental Studio. Dr. Cash will examine your mouth and take images, x-rays, and a digital scan of your teeth to prepare your treatment. From there, Dr. Cash will work closely with the team at Invisalign to develop your custom treatment plan using dental software, then ordering your aligners!
You will come into the office to receive your first several sets of aligners a few weeks after your initial consultation. Each set of aligners must be worn for 22 hours per day and is typically worn anywhere between 1-2 weeks depending on your custom treatment plan. Depending on your treatment timeline, you’ll swap to a new set of aligners. At Pearl Dental Studio, you can track your progress at home from the Invisalign app! This allows you to submit photos every week allowing our expert team to track your progress weekly and cutting down on the number of visits to the office. The length of your treatment depends on your custom treatment plan; however, Dr. Cash and our team are here to support you in every step of the way!
Advanced Technology
For Better Invisalign Results
Dr. Lindsay Cash is your Simpsonville dentist and has invested in the latest technology to provide you with the best possible level of care during your Invisalign treatment. Before your treatment begins, the expert team at Pearl Dental Studio uses an advanced iTero intraoral digital scanner to create an interactive, 3D image of your mouth and your teeth.
Using these digital scans, Dr. Lindsay Cash can determine whether or not Invisalign is right for you, and begin the process of planning your custom treatment. Compared to other methods of taking impressions, such as using dental putty and trays, our iTero digital scanner is faster, more comfortable, and more accurate.

How Will Invisalign
Affect My Lifestyle?
While Invisalign is convenient, it will require some lifestyle changes. The biggest change is that you’ll need to wear your Invisalign aligners for at least 22 hours per day, according to the instructions given to you by Dr. Lindsay Cash. Unless you’re eating, drinking or brushing your teeth, you’ll need to wear your aligners.
You’ll need to pay more attention to your oral health, too. It’s best to brush once in the morning after breakfast, and to brush once after each meal of the day. You will also need to clean your aligners frequently. This is because Invisalign can lead to a higher risk of tooth decay if you don’t maintain good oral hygiene. Without proper at-home dental care, your aligners may cause food particles, acid, and bacteria to be trapped against your teeth, resulting in cavities.

If you’re a big snacker or drink a lot of beverages (except clear tap or bottled water) throughout the day, Invisalign will take some adjustment. You can’t eat while wearing your aligners, so snacking is out. It’s best to eat larger meals throughout the day. You also can’t drink anything besides water while wearing your aligners.
Overall, though, Invisalign is relatively convenient, and you’ll get used to these lifestyle changes quickly. For more information, contact the team at Pearl Dental Studio for an Invisalign consultation with Dr. Lindsay Cash.

How Do I Speed Up
The Invisalign Process?
The best thing you can do is follow Dr. Cash’s instructions to the letter! Switch your aligners whenever you’re supposed to and wear them for at least 22 hours per day. The more consistent you are about aligner use, the faster your treatment will be.
You will also get a munchie at your Invisalign aligner delivery appointment. These small pieces of rubber can be chewed when you switch to a new set of aligners to “seat” the aligners properly and eliminate gaps between your aligners and your teeth, which can improve the effectiveness of your treatment.
Beyond that, just make sure you continue tracking your progress regularly with the Invisalign app and see Dr. Cash regularly for your appointments. Between your appointments, you should also monitor how your teeth and aligners feel. If you are noticing any abnormalities or something doesn’t feel right, make sure to call our office and inform us right away so that Dr. Cash can determine if any follow-up is needed

Candidates for Invisalign
Is Invisalign Right for Me?
Invisalign is usually recommended for patients who have minor-to-moderate orthodontic issues. Orthodontic problems like gapped, uneven, crowded or crooked teeth can all be treated with Invisalign. Minor bite position issues may also be treatable with Invisalign.
However, orthodontic issues like major jaw or bite malposition or extremely crooked teeth may not be treatable with Invisalign. Traditional metal braces are much more effective for correcting these kinds of complex orthodontic issues. To find out if you’re a good candidate for Invisalign, schedule a consultation at Pearl Dental Studio today.
