Precision Bite Evaluation Using T-Scan
At Pearl Dental Studio, we use a T-scan device as an objective tool to evaluate a patient's occlusion, commonly known as "the bite." Unlike traditional bite paper, which only indicates tooth contact, the T-scan measures both the force and timing of the bite, providing essential insights for assessing occlusion. This technology is crucial for evaluating the strength and function of the jaw.
Patients undergoing orthodontic treatment or multiple dental procedures that alter jaw positioning may be at risk of developing TMJ (Temporomandibular Joint) Syndrome. While bite paper can check for contact points, it does not assess the muscle relationship between the upper and lower jaws. For patients experiencing jaw issues or those at higher risk of developing such problems after dental procedures, a T-scan assessment may be necessary before, during, or after treatment.
